Back from Vacation: Vacation Outfits
Had a (mostly) lovely road trip vacation driving around Lake Michigan. This vacation was originally planned because our house was supposed to be on the market now and we didn't want to go too far or spend too much money, but putting the house up for sale has been sidelined until spring for various reasons. (Honestly mostly procrastination and the hubby has cold feet.) Oh well. Next year.
Anyway, we did drive all the way around the lake, but we only had three main stops, and we stayed in each place for several days. We had planned to be gone longer, but a really gross hotel room (no matter how great your beach is it doesn't make up for a dirty room!) and lack of desire to find a new place drove us home early.
September 5th: Door County, WI
Our first day was spent checking out the town. We had lunch in a park, and ended the day at Sunset Park.
On Me: Top: Max Studio; Sweater: Adrienne Vittadini; Jeans: Lucky Jeans; Purse: Kate Spade; Shoes: Stewart Weitzman; Necklace: Megan Goldkamp
On Baby Girl: Top: Crazy 8; Sweater: Oshkosh B'Gosh; Jeans: Levis; Shoes:
September 6th: Door County, WI
Spent the day checking out Peninsula State Park, exploring the extended area, and ended the day with a traditional Door County fish boil.
Top: Ann Taylor; Sweater: Adrienne Vittadini; Shorts: Gap; Shoes: New Balance; Necklaces (top to bottom): my own design, Megan Goldkamp
Later in the day as it got a bit cooler I swapped out the sweater for a Gap cardigan, the shorts for Lucky Jeans, and the shoes for the Sewart Weitzman sandals (pictured with previous day's out fit).
September 7th: Driving Day
This dress worked really well for in the car, because I'm one of those people who are always cold, and Baby Girl and Hubby are the opposite! It covered my legs to keep them warm, and with the addition of the cardigan I was perfectly comfortable! Pretty sure I wore the sandals again, but they aren't in the picture. They are very comfortable and I wear them all the time--I really wish I could find another pair! (I was even married in them!)
Dress: Pink Rose; Cardigan: Gap; Purse: Kate Spade; Necklaces (top to bottom): Megan Goldkamp, my own design (worn as bracelet)
September 8th: Mackinac Island
This was our favorite spot we stayed in! We already plan to return for a short trip--maybe even as early as next year.
Early in the day crossing on the ferry (I changed back into this for dinner as the day got cooler as well)
Sweater: Polo; Jeans: Lucky; Necklaces (top to bottom): my own design, Megan Goldkamp; Bracelet: Banana Republic
Bike ride around the island (first time on a bike since I was 12!)
Cardigan: Gap; Camisole: Old Navy; Jeans: Lucky; Necklaces (top to bottom): my own design, Megan Goldkamp; Bracelet: Banana Republic
September 9th: Mackinac Island
Island carriage tour and other outdoor activities, and butterfly conservatory
Cardigan: Gap; Top: Ann Taylor; Jeans: Lucky; Purse: Kate Spade; Shoes: Stewart Weitzman; Necklaces (top to bottom): my own design, Megan Goldkamp
September 10th: Mackinac Island and driving to Traverse City
Top: Cable & Gauge; Shorts: Cynthia Rowley; Shoes: Stuart Weitzman; Earrings:World Market
September 11th: Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park
Baby Girl thought this park was lots of fun; it was like a huge sandbox! There was surprisingly varied landscape which changed rather suddenly and lots of great views for Hubby and I as well.
Dress: Pink Rose; Sweater: Adrienne Vittadini; Necklace: my own design
It isn't easy, to live out of a suitcase without repeating outfits (which was part of my motivation behind this blog--to be less of an outfit repeater without buying a ton of new clothes) but I think I did a decent job considering the weather I had to consider possible when packing! Lake Michigan weather can be anything from freezing cold to blistering hot in early September, and this is especially true if you are traveling northern and southern areas!
Looking at these pictures, I also think I need to work on my posture and do some toning before the next vacation which will happen in February and involve a swimsuit...
