Thursday, April 3, 2014: FINALLY(!) A new shade for the kitchen

5f9ab26d089b5f38ca601390f999ed75 We have been living in our house for just over eight and a half years.  Ever since we moved in I had plans to replace the vertical blinds covering the kitchen bay window.  I HATE blinds in homes, especially vertical blinds.  They just make a space feel like every office I've ever worked in.

Just before Christmas, while Hubby was outside playing in the snow with Babygirl I finally decided to rip down the blinds I had been hating for such a long time.  Until last weekend we lived with no shade (we don't often close it anyway) and screw holes in the wall.  Hubby was not happy; he thinks blinds are fine.  This weekend I finally buckled down, got out the sewing machine and made the shade.

I've made roman shades before.  They are not easy with my mediocre sewing skills.  Making large ones for bay windows are particularly difficult because you are dealing with so much fabric!  None the less, I am very happy to have it done.  The kitchen looks so much nicer without the hated blinds.
